Her voice is
round and silky with a unique and 'authentic' country ring to her tones.
Country music singer/songwriter, Stevi Marie, counts her influences to
include: Patty Lovelace, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Vern Gosdin, and
a great many bluegrass artists.
Stevi grew up
in LaBelle, Florida, a small town about 100 miles north of the Florida
Everglades. Now living in nearby Alva, Florida, she's a real country girl.
She loves bass fishing, family get-togethers, "old Florida" woods, and
good ole country music. Her mother was one of seventeen brothers &
sisters with a lineage of family in Alabama. She tells the story about
how her family came to Florida. Before she was born, her grandfather would
pick up the family in the middle of the night to escape the law as he was
a moonshiner. Many times this happened until the family came to settle
in LaBelle. She honros her family for their commitment to be there for
each other.
Her country
heritage inspires her music. She wishes to return to an older, simpler
time when country songs came from the heart. Her grandfather, Nate Harris,
played fiddle, guitar, banjo, and "just about anything with strings on
it." From the audience of a Grand Ole Opry performance, Nate volunteered
to play with Curly Fox when Curly's fiddle player was suddenly out sick.
He went on to perform many shows with Texas Ruby and Curly Fox. Years earlier
he hoboed on trains playing fiddle with Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs.
Stevi had a
rocky road along tlife to 23. Always dreaming of someday being a country
music singer and songwriter, she married at the young age of 18 and soon
had two children. She lost her husband after three years to a tragic auto
accident and was left to care for their children alone. Even so, Stevi
has maintained a strong and positive outlook on life. Songs like "You're
The One That Made Me Love You" and "Fallin' For You... Again" share her
feelings of love in her life today. As a single mom, she hopes to one day
find the right man to be in her and her children's lives. Buf for now,
she's focusing on her singing career and her songs. Stevi decided not to
move to Nashville, but rather pen her songs from her native Florida.
Stevi has been
performing on the stage since she was 8 years old. For as long as she can
remember, she has sung her classic style country songs and has captivated
audiences with her style and sound. Her favorite place to sing is at weddings.
She does this without ever receiving a dime as she feels it's a privilege
for her to sing for such an honorable and sacred day.
Mark Haffner,
Stevi's co-writer and producer, along with Kenneth Wallace (Buck Wallace
Productions) agreed she was the real thing. Mark says, "Stevi is what fans
are longing for in country music today. Everything about Stevi is authentic
and genuine. She doesn't have to pretend to be country, she simply is.
This is what's so amazing about her!"
