Software is back!! |
Archive Software was created
over 10 years ago for the purpose of forever eternalizing the history of
the personal computer.... collecting, archiving, and again distributing
both the hardware and software for virtually every home computer and game
console manufactured.
Today, youngsters don't remember
the joy of playing their favorite Scott Adams written Adventure International
text adventure or the newest Hogue/Konyu Big Five Software arcade
creation on their TRS-80s. Who is Leo Christopherson, and what exactly
is a Dancing Demon? With most, there are no memories of the 5.25" disk,
the early bullatin boards, or the amazing "sprite graphics" of the Commodore
64. Nor do youngsters today realize that Texas Instruments actually used
to manufacture something other than a graphic calculator! Oh, what is DOS,
and what does the CATALOG command do on the legendary Apples??
Some of you may remember
the early car racing game on the TRS-80 which amazingly used the cassette
port's "OUT" command to generate sound effects. Today, the gaming concern
is just how advanced the sound card is.
They don't realize the true
transformation computing and game playing has taken.... that's why this
site is here! For a couple of years Archive Software has been working behind
the scenes, but because this history continues to play a pivotal role in
today's computing, Archive Software is back!
We hope to provide you the
option of purchasing whatever hardware and software you might be looking
for in its original form. We also hope to provide some emulators and ROM
images of all the classics free of charge for your enjoyment. Bear with
us as we get everything implemented into this site -- it'll be well worth
it.
Please browse this site,
and see if there's something here that might bring back some of those early
computing memories! Also, be sure to let us know if there is some additional
material or information you'd like to see here.
